Art. Maya is a hand made vegetable tanned leather and has earned accolades from crafters across the globe.  Maya starts off as select Grade A skins of french origin, dyed through, finished with an artistic touch and is partially buffed, resulting in unique color textures and variations that are sure to impress.  Maya is not greasy but has light wax finish, providing a solid, durable texture that doesn't patina significantly over time. Its firm temper makes it perfect for wet molding and shaping, or to be used as-is for making small leather goods such as Coin Pouches, Belts, Key Chains, Wallets, Card Holders, Tablets, Smartphone Covers, Book Covers, etc..

Leather Shape: Bellies originate from the belly portion of cows. Shape is irregular, and long.

The Tannery:  Conceria Il Ponte is a Leather Working Group (LWG) Gold Award-winning prestigious tannery that is located in Fucecchio in Tuscany, Italy. Conceria Il Ponte belongs to the Consortium of Vegetable Tanneries of Tuscany (see below) and has earned the rights to use their famous and easily recognized  “Tuscan Vegetable-Tanned Leather” handprint logo. The logo guarantees that the leather was made by the book, i.e., in accordance with very strict Technical Product Regulations that govern a selected few tanneries in the Tuscany region. The certified tanneries adopt the highest standards of stewardship of authentic vegetable tanning practices, which is respected the world over.
